This Kemble Oxford is quite a rarity. You don’t often find them in gloss black, neither do you find many with a silent system by Yamaha. For those who are wondering what a silent piano is: this is an option to allow the acoustic side of the piano to be “turned off” by pressing down the middle pedal a muting strip goes between the hammers and the strings and blocks the contact between them. The piano can now be used like an electric piano with headphones. There are electrical sensors under each key that when played transfer the sound and dynamic response into your ears. Perfect for anyone who wants to combine a digital experience but not lose out on that acoustic quality. This piano would make an excellent addition to any home. It uses Yamaha parts, but has been put together by experienced craftsmen and women in the Kemble factory in the UK. Some say this is the best of both worlds, as the hammers tend to be voiced differently to the Asian alternatives and can often give a warmer tone much like a European piano. The piano was made in 2007, making it one of the last pianos to come from Kemble before they closed in 2009.
